Sanctified labour, 2026 In this piece, I explore the role of women as homemakers and the immense, often invisible labour and sacrifice it demands. It looks at how these sacrifices are socially celebrated while still expected as a given. From the perspective of the Shakchunni, this figure appears both distant and unattainable, representing a life shaped by duty, recognition, and domestic devotion.

Where the Foot Breaks the Surface, 2026 This piece shows a woman stepping into water, symbolizing a move beyond marriage and fixed identity. As she enters, her foot begins to twist and subtly transform. The work explores the tension between freedom and consequence, where change feels both liberating and unsettling.

Necessary Evil, 2026 This piece captures the Shakchunni running through the woods, holding the decapitated heads of men. Rendered like a flash photograph, it feels as though she has been caught in a fleeting, unguarded moment. The work centers her story and presence as a being, while the border shows the life cycle of a snake, reflecting transformation and cyclical change.

Without Intervention, 2026 This piece shows the Shakchunni bound beneath a tree, trapped in a snake nest and enclosed within an egg. A snake coils around the tree above her, reinforcing her confinement. It reflects how, even in death, she is caught in a cycle of longing shaped by marriage and patriarchal control, preventing her from fully completing a transformation toward freedom and autonomy.
