The imbalances of modern life are considered as an illness affecting the collective body of mankind. “Late Stage” is a mixed media print series which responds to a need to process what feels like a worsening prognosis for the health of the world, as well as the people living in it.. A passion for early human visual depictions is coupled with research that examines theories of human cognitive and creative development, helping to develop a personal visual style which evokes universal human experiences of the symptoms of the world’s declining health. The work attempts to depict the shared interior emotional spaces where the problems of modernity most deeply affect us. Less self-conscious mark making and a more reactive approach create work that approaches serious subject matter in ways that feel both playful and somber.
