Blind Devotees explores concepts and themes of expectations of devotion placed on women as shown in history and mythology/fiction. This theme takes on feminist notes, as I depict the real consequences of blindly devoting yourself to something. Those consequences include the ugly and undesirable version of femininity we are often expected to pretend doesn’t exist. Extreme emaciation, body hair, incarceration, madness, death, corruption of the mind and body, etc. are depicted as candidly as possible.
