“Saxifrage Stratification” The water hyacinth is a plant that is tolerant of contaminated water. It has been used in the past to treat wastewater. An island made of water hyacinths that purifies the contaminated water surrounding it, allowing humans to live on islands after civilization was flooded with contaminated waters.

“The Great Bald Cypress” Bald cypress trees are not only able to resist rotting, but can now purify rot, further becoming a symbol of resilience in the world. Communities have formed around these trees, where they often hold ceremonies to provide offerings to the tree.

“The Algae Stall” Algae is resistant to climate change and produces most of the earth’s oxygen in the atmosphere. It is sold at stalls in the form of oxygen tanks, creating a self-replenishing source of oxygen to provide breathable air for people when oxygen in the atmosphere is scarce.

“Arctic Warmth” Purple saxifrages are resilient to harsh conditions, such as wind and snow, and can survive in the high Arctic or in ice. They have become a heat source in areas that have become colder due to climate change.

“Luminated Lilies” The peace lily can survive in low light conditions. Over time, the plant’s flame-shaped flower has evolved to emanate light and be a light source in places where sunlight is scarce.

“Snowdance Shade” The snowdance Japanese tree lilac thrives in plenty of sunlight and has a strong, round canopy that is great for creating shade. It has evolved to be able to withstand extremely harsh sunlight caused by deterioration of the ozone. Its dense and large canopy provides protection against the sun and allows people to live underneath and inside it.

“Pothos People” Pothos are extremely drought tolerant plants that excretes excess water. It has evolved to be a self-sustaining plant that produces more than enough water for itself to survive. It functions as a water source for human villages.

“Roots and Rubble” The bigleaf maple is erosion resilient and can prevent soil erosion caused by wind and water. Its roots have evolved to be extremely strong, capable of holding together cliffs and rocks that were broken from earthquakes. It prevents landslides and allows life to survive on these broken cliffs.
