“Quick Fix Catalogue” primarily showcases various packaging designs as well as collateral materials for branding, including advertisements, zines, and hand out cards. The concept of my thesis revolves around the consumerism-based desire for a quick and easy fix for complicated issues. These products are fictional ‘fixes’ for problems such as finding love, uncontrollable emotions, or how to be successful. This series focuses on how consumerism can lead us to avoiding our problems rather than facing them head on. This series is conceptually based on satire and fiction, also demonstrating the concept of consumer psychology and the desire for a quick and easy fix to complicated problems. Through showcasing the intersection between packaging design and illustration, I hope that viewers of this series will engage with the material as intended by utilizing tactility and personal interaction — as well as reflection upon the issues we personally wish we had “quick fixes” for.
