The patron god of the lands, Eismei, enacts his final blessing and creates a sanctuary for his people.
After centuries without guidance, a new leader steps forth in Eismethia. Contique addresses the crowd with a plan to save and rejuvenate their country.
Coming to a crossroads of admitting defeat and a point of no return, Contique slays a priest of Varidian and receives a power to find alchemists.
A spy for Contique and a young alchemist meet and decide to put an end to Contique’s tyranny. The take their steps out of Sanctuary into the outside world.
The narrator of the story shares his origin. The tale of how he was blessed with goldy powers. The blessing of the god Helix.
The new Helix meets with the two young rebels who’ve left Sanctuary and shares with them his dream of them being blessed with powers. The young ex-spy, Clear, and the alchemist, Theo, become Sinister and Camryn respectively.
Contique has found new apprentices, young Eismethians who show the promise of becoming his successors. The two new apprentices, Oak and Grace, are unaware of what the future holds for them.
Oak and Grace are found to be alchemist and kept apart and tortured. Clear frees the two and Helix reveals to Oak that he is to be the next Varidian.
The new heroes; Helix, Clear, Theo, and now Oak, along with many freed alchemists and supporting Eismethians rus the castle to confront Contique, who appears a broken and paranoid man.
With the story seemingly at it’s end, and the heroes vanquishing the villain, one is unsatisfied with their role. Grace takes it upon herself to become the new Eismei, dooming the country and herself to a world frozen in gold and stone.
